Christopher E. Steed
Executive Vice President
Christopher E. Steed currently serves as an Executive Vice President of Sage Canyon Advisors.
In addition to his work with SCA, Mr. Steed is an Associate with Paladin Capital Group, a Washington, D.C.-based multi-stage, multi-strategy and a multi-sector venture capital firm with approximately $1 billion in assets under management. Mr. Steed’s deal-related activities include sourcing deals, detailed due diligence support (market analysis, returns analysis and detailed financial review) and portfolio company assistance.His fund-related activities include managing quarterly portfolio company valuations and preparing and supporting the firm audit process. Mr. Steed also provides support for ten of the Fund’s portfolio companies and has served on the deal team for Paladin’s recent investment in Modius, which develops intelligent measurement systems for mission-critical facilities that improves business continuity, energy performance, and carbon management. Beyond his deal and fund-related activities, Mr. Steed is focused on developing market expertise in various market segments, including alternative energy, IT services, cleantech, network management and security, software and security software and computer hardware.
Prior to joining Paladin in 2008, Mr. Steed was a Client Associate with Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking and Investment Group (PBIG), Merrill’s ultra-high-net-worth division of its Private Client Group. While with Merrill, Mr. Steed assisted in the organization of Indications of Interest and client information for an Initial Public Offering, and while with the KKM Team, Merrill’s preeminent and largest team with assets under management exceeding $11.5 billion, Mr. Steed generated research reports, provided analysis on a variety of investment products, provided administrative assistance, conducted account maintenance, processed investment orders and provided account analysis for the Team’s clients.
Mr. Steed holds a Series 7 and a Series 66 certification and is licensed as an Investment Advisor Representative with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He is also a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIAA), holding the Association’s professional designation, which focuses on the analysis of hedge funds, private equity, commodities, real estate, managed futures and credit derivatives.
Mr. Steed graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Political Science.
