Andrew M. Saidel
Executive Vice President
Andrew M. Saidel currently serves as an Executive Vice President of Sage
Canyon Advisors, LLC. Mr. Saidel brings 17 years of experience working
with senior corporate executives and policy makers on business,
regulatory, and legislative issues related to Japan.
Prior to joining SCA, Mr. Saidel co-founded Dynamic Strategies Asia, LC
(DSA) in 1996, a consultancy working on business and public policy
issues for U.S. and Japanese corporations. He currently serves as
President and CEO. Mr. Saidel has assisted many Fortune 500 companies to
create stronger markets for their technologies, develop collaborative
coalitions with stakeholders, and resolve complex policy challenges. DSA
has facilitated business alliances, intellectual property licensing
negotiations, and the launch of Japan’s first web-based resource on
biomedical research tool transactions.
Mr. Saidel serves as a member of the International Collaboration
Advisory Council at The University of Tokyo, a panel of faculty members
and outside advisors assisting the university with international
development strategy.
Prior to founding DSA, Mr. Saidel worked for three years as a policy
aide to 21 members of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party, and then
for three years as an Analyst for the U.S. Government. He has spoken on
Japanese business and public policy at seminars hosted by the Japanese
Cabinet Office, the U.S. National Intelligence Council, the Department
of State, the National Institutes of Health, the World Affairs Council,
AARP, and the Advanced Medical Technology Association.
Mr. Saidel earned a B.A. from Colgate University, a Certificate with
Honors from Kansai University of Foreign Studies in Osaka, Japan, and an
A.M. from the Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University. He
speaks and reads Japanese fluently and lived in Japan for five years.
He holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Series 7 and Series 24 licenses.
